Technical Session Schedule 

Short Description:  Technical Sessions, Track 1

  • Session 1 - Tuesday morning, Nov.6 - Geoscience Investigations – This session focuses on geological, geochemical, and geophysical research with an emphasis on Alaska and economic geology.  This is an opportunity to hear the latest results from the US Geological Survey, Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys, other agencies, and graduate students.
  • Session 2 - Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 6 - Exploration Project Highlights – Hear about new and old early-stage prospects that are being explored now and may one day become Alaska’s next mine.
  • Session 3 - Wednesday morning, Nov. 7 - Engineering Alaska Mines – A lot of engineering goes into building and operating a mine.  Learn about how it is done at Alaska mines and some of the new techniques being applied.
  • Session 4 - Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 7 - Alaska  Advanced Exploration Projects – In this session you will get an in-depth look at some of the exciting deposits that are seeing large drill campaigns and other activity as they advance toward feasibility.
  • Session 5 - Thursday morning, Nov. 8 – Usibelli Coal Mine 75th Anniversary Session – Learn about the Usibelli Coal Mine, past and present, and help us celebrate their 75th Anniversary.
  • Session 6 - Thursday afternoon, Nov. 8 - Mines and Advanced Projects – Alaska has five major hard rock mines, one coal mine, and some significant placer operations as well as some exploration projects that have seen many years of resource, environmental, and economic evaluation.  Representatives will tell us what is happening at their operation.
